In Croatia, there is growing interest in collaboration models such as Greenport West-Holland. There too, awareness is increasing that sustainable innovation can only succeed when producers, industry, knowledge institutions and governments work together in a structured way. For this reason, director Angelique de Wit was invited by the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, Food Security and Nature to give a presentation at the conference preceding the international trade fair Viroexpo in Virovitica.
Angelique presented the Greenport collaboration model alongside speakers such as ambassador Charlotte van Baak, Annie van de Riet (AVAG), Maryna Yermakova (KUBO) and Ferenc Farkas (Koppert Biological Systems). Jesse Schevel (Glastuinbouw Nederland) joined John Jagernath in a panel discussion on sustainable vegetable production.
The visit concluded with site visits to several local producers. The following day, the official opening of Viroexpo took place, where Netherlands participated as a partner country with its own pavilion under the overarching theme “Farming the Future.”
