Bij het Departement Economie, Wetenschap en Innovatie (EWI) bij de Vlaamse Overheid gebeurt de aansturing van het Vlaams innovatiebeleid voor thematische ontwikkeling van de Vlaamse economie zoals voor Digitalisering, Industrie 4.0 of Bio-economie. Dries Maes is beleidsmedewerker bij EWI, bevoegd voor bio-economie. Hij is secretaris van de Vlaamse interdepartementale werkgroep voor de bio-economie (IWG Bio-E). Deze zorgt voor samenwerking tussen alle Vlaamse beleidsdomeinen. De kerndepartementen van de groep zijn Dep. Omgeving, Dep. Landbouw en Visserij en Dep EWI. Daarnaast volgt hij bij EWI het Europees beleid op, en vertegenwoordigt België in verschillende Europese netwerken zoals de Biobased Industries JU, en de werkgroep bioeconomie van de SCAR.
At the Department of Economy, Science and Innovation (EWI) at the Flemish Government, the management of the Flemish innovation policy takes place for thematic development of the Flemish economy such as for digitization, Industry 4.0 or Bio-economy. Dries Maes is a policy officer at EEMCS, responsible for the bio-economy. He is the secretary of the Flemish interdepartmental working group for the bio-economy (IWG Bio-E). This ensures cooperation between all Flemish policy areas. The core departments of the group are Dep. Environment, Dep. Agriculture and Fisheries and Dep EWI.
He also follows up European policy at EEMCS, and represents Belgium in various European networks such as the Biobased Industries JU and the working group bioeconomy of SCAR.
